Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. As a student, is there a discount available?
A. YES! In order to receive a discount you need to pre-pay at the Cashier's Office at LDS Business College (2nd floor - west side). You can pre-pay as little or as much as you wish. Then, use your Student ID card at the register at Carriage Cafe and you will receive a 10% discount, and you will not be charged sales tax (currently 7.85%). If you do not pre-pay, you are not eligible for the discount and you will be charged sales tax.
There is currently a 24 hour delay from the time you make your payment until it posts to your account. Please plan accordingly.
Q. Can you look up my current balance on my account?
A. We do not have access to that information. When you make a purchase on your account, the remaining balance is printed on your reciept. If you would like to know your balance and you will not be making a purchase, please go to the Cashier's Office at LDS Business College (2nd floor - west side).
Q. Can I use my friend's account to purchase my meal?
A. LDS Business College policy states that you must either present your Student ID card or another form of photo ID to use your account. There are no exceptions to this policy. Please do not ask the cashier to make an exception. So, if your friend is willing to allow you to use their account, they must be present and present their Student ID card or another form of photo ID. Please do not ask the cashier to make an exception.
Q. What is the Carriage Cafe Club Card? What are the requirements, and who can use it?
A. The Carriage Cafe Club Card is our way of saying, "Thank You!" to our loyal customers. Currently, every time you purchase at least $3.00 at the Carriage Cafe you will recieve 1 stamp (for each visit, not for every $3.00 spent). When you have received 10 stamps on your card, you may then use your card on your next visit to Carriage Cafe and recieve $5.00 off your purchase. If you purchase less than $5.00 your purchase is free.
You may get more than 1 stamp if you are paying for someone else in your group. For example, if you and a friend are having lunch and you pay for both lunches, you may receive 2 stamps, or you may each get a stamp on your individual cards. However, there is a limit of 1 stamp per visit per person paying over $3.00
You may not combine discounts. For example, if you are a student and you use your student ID to receive the 10% discount, you may not also use the Carriage Cafe Club Card.
Q. Can we plan a student dance (or other activity) in the Carriage Cafe dining room?
A. Although our first class dining room is large and would be a fantastic place to hold such events, there are certain criteria that must be met. Since we share a building with KSL radio and television, we are not able to host any events that will raise the noise level in the dining room significantly. So, any event where music would be played at a high volume level is not allowed. However, meetings, quite social gatherings, and other events could possibly be held here. All facility scheduling is handled by Cathy Smith, Administrative Assistant at LDSBC (801) 524-8106, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
Q. You are not currently open for dinner? Why?
A. We plan our serving times according to many factors, including student loads (Summer Semester typically has a low student count), time of year, demand, etc. If we are not open during certain periods it is due to these factors. Our goal is to provide a great, convenient place to eat, while remaining cost effective.
Q. Are you hiring? Do you need to be a student to work at the Carriage Cafe?
A. We always hire LDS Business College students as our part-time employees. During the Fall and Winter semester we typically need quite a few student employees, but during the Summer semester the need is significantly lower. If you are interested in working at the Carriage Cafe, please call the mananger at (801) 524-8183, or bring your resume and class schedule to the cafe and ask to speak with the manager.
